The Bengaluru IED blast investigation has led to the arrest of three men from Assam, with police alleging that a long-running land dispute, financial disagreements and family tensions triggered a murder plot.
The explosion occurred on October 20 at an under-construction building on Jeremiah Road in Bengaluru. Two workers were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED), allegedly concealed inside a parcel, exploded. Investigators believe the intended target was a security guard involved in a personal dispute with one of the accused.
Bengaluru IED blast linked to land dispute
Bengaluru Police said the blast stemmed from personal enmity rather than a suspected terror attack. According to investigators, the alleged plan targeted Allauddin, a security guard who shared family ties with one of the accused.
Police identified the arrested men as Bhurhan Ahmad Burbhuiyya, 20, Jahidull Hussain Burbhuiyya, 27, and Sajidull Lashkar, 22. All three reportedly hail from Dinanathpur village in Assam’s Hailakandi district.
Investigators believe the dispute involved land and money in their native village. Additionally, tensions reportedly increased after the cancellation of Jahidull’s sister’s marriage, which police believe contributed to the alleged revenge plan.
However, these details remain allegations under investigation. The arrests represent a significant development, but investigators must establish each accused person’s role through further inquiry and legal proceedings.
How the Bengaluru IED blast unfolded
According to the police investigation, the device was allegedly concealed inside a parcel and left at a small shop near the under-construction building. The intended recipient was expected to collect the package.
Police said the parcel was meant for Allauddin. However, a co-worker opened it, triggering the explosion and injuring both men.
The injured workers were identified as Allauddin, 53, and Suraj Kumar, 28, a painter from Uttar Pradesh. Reports said Suraj sustained serious injuries, while Allauddin also required medical treatment.
The explosion raised immediate concerns about the nature of the device and whether the incident involved a wider security threat. Consequently, investigators examined several possible motives before identifying personal rivalry as the suspected reason.
Police said the alleged target and the prime accused were relatives. This connection became an important part of the investigation as officers reconstructed the events leading to the blast.
Bengaluru IED blast: Three Assam men arrested
Investigators arrested two suspects in Bengaluru and apprehended the third in Maski, in Karnataka’s Raichur district. Police said the arrests followed a coordinated operation involving multiple teams.
The accused reportedly worked in different occupations across Karnataka. Their employment and movements helped investigators establish possible links between them and the incident.
Police also alleged that the three childhood friends used a WhatsApp group to discuss and coordinate the plan. Investigators are examining communications and other evidence to determine how the alleged conspiracy developed.
According to police, Bhurhan allegedly assembled the explosive device, while Sajidull is accused of assisting with the plan and providing shelter. Jahidull was allegedly linked to the motive and the intended target.
These alleged roles have not been established through a court verdict. The investigation continues to determine the extent of each suspect’s involvement and the evidence supporting the accusations.
CCTV footage helps crack Bengaluru IED blast case
Bengaluru Police conducted an extensive investigation after the October 20 explosion. Officers examined more than 1,500 CCTV camera recordings and questioned over 100 people while tracing the suspects.
Ten special teams reportedly worked on the case, using surveillance footage, questioning and technical analysis to identify those allegedly involved. Police said they arrested the suspects within approximately 72 hours of the incident.
Meanwhile, investigators examined whether the explosion had any connection to terrorism. Police subsequently described personal rivalry as the suspected motive, rather than a terror-related operation.
The case highlights the importance of coordinated police work in investigating explosions, particularly when the circumstances initially leave several explanations open.
However, determining the precise motive is only one part of the process. Investigators must also establish how the device was prepared, how the parcel reached the location and what evidence connects each accused person to the explosion.
Further investigation into Bengaluru IED blast continues
The arrests have brought investigators closer to understanding the circumstances surrounding the Bengaluru IED blast. Nevertheless, several aspects of the case remain subject to further examination.
Police are continuing to question the accused and assess the available evidence. The findings will help establish the sequence of events and clarify the individual roles allegedly played in the incident.
The case also underlines how personal and property disputes can escalate into serious allegations of violence. In this instance, police believe disagreements involving land, finances and family relationships contributed to the alleged plot.
For now, the investigation remains ongoing, and the accused are entitled to due process under the law. Further legal proceedings will determine responsibility for the explosion that injured two workers in Bengaluru.
