CPI Women’s Wing Alleges State-Sponsored Disturbance in Manipur, Calls for Government Action

The women’s wing of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has accused the government of sponsoring the ongoing disturbance in Manipur, a northeastern state in India. The National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW), a part of the CPI, expressed their concerns during a press conference held in the national capital. They criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments at the state and central levels for their alleged inaction and called for immediate measures to restore peace in the region.

A three-member delegation from the CPI’s women’s wing had recently visited Manipur to assess the situation on the ground. Following their visit, the NFIW General Secretary, Annie Raja, addressed the media and asserted that the ongoing disturbance in Manipur was not communal but rather “state-sponsored.” Raja accused the government of acting as a mere bystander and failing to take adequate steps to quell the violence.

During the press conference, the NFIW activists called upon the BJP governments to take responsibility for the situation in Manipur. They emphasized the need for initiating a dialogue with all relevant stakeholders to facilitate a peaceful resolution. The activists demanded that the government disarm all armed groups and individuals involved in the violence. They also stressed the urgency of implementing confidence-building measures to restore trust among the affected communities.

Furthermore, the NFIW urged the government to promptly register First Information Reports (FIRs) to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions. They emphasized the importance of expediting this process to restore a sense of justice and security among the affected population. Additionally, the activists called for urgent improvements in the conditions of relief camps, where many displaced people were seeking refuge due to the prevailing unrest.

The women’s wing of the CPI expressed deep concern about the situation in Manipur and its impact on the lives of the people, particularly women and children. They stressed that it was crucial for the government to intervene swiftly and effectively to address the root causes of the disturbance. They emphasized that a failure to do so would only exacerbate the tensions and prolong the suffering of the affected communities.

The allegations made by the CPI’s women’s wing highlight the urgency of the situation in Manipur and the need for government action. The claim that the disturbance is “state-sponsored” raises serious questions about the role of the government in addressing the crisis. The NFIW’s demands for disarmament, dialogue, and the improvement of relief camp conditions underscore the comprehensive approach needed to restore peace in the region.

As the situation unfolds in Manipur, it remains to be seen how the government responds to the allegations and the demands put forth by the CPI’s women’s wing. The spotlight is now on the BJP governments at the state and central levels to take decisive action and address the concerns raised by the NFIW. The restoration of peace and stability in Manipur is of utmost importance to ensure the well-being and security of its people.
