In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has taken decisive action to enhance security measures in the national capital. Delhi Police Commissioner, Sanjay Arora, issued an order prohibiting the use of “sub-conventional aerial platforms” such as paragliders, hang-gliders, and hot air balloons from July 22 to August 16. This move comes in response to credible intelligence reports suggesting the potential threat posed by criminal elements, anti-social elements, or terrorists hostile to India.

The ban encompasses a range of aerial platforms, including paragliders, paramotors, hang-gliders, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized powered aircraft, and para-jumping from aircraft. By implementing this restriction, the authorities aim to safeguard the safety of the general public, dignitaries, and vital installations during the Independence Day festivities.

The decision comes as part of the Delhi Police’s proactive approach to mitigate any potential risks that may arise from the misuse of these aerial platforms. Security agencies have been on high alert, closely monitoring intelligence inputs and analyzing any suspicious activities in the region.

Independence Day celebrations hold significant cultural and historical importance for India, and the nation commemorates the day with pride and patriotism. However, this auspicious occasion has also been marred by security threats in the past, necessitating stringent measures to prevent any untoward incidents.

The use of aerial platforms, while popular for recreational purposes, can become a potential tool for mischief or harm in the wrong hands. Criminal elements seeking to create unrest or perpetrate violence may exploit such platforms to carry out their malevolent intentions. Therefore, the Delhi Police’s decision to restrict their usage during this sensitive period is a precautionary step to maintain public safety and protect the integrity of the celebrations.

The ban is not an isolated measure but is part of a comprehensive security strategy employed by law enforcement agencies. Delhi Police, in collaboration with other security forces and intelligence agencies, is deploying additional personnel and surveillance equipment at key locations and events during the Independence Day period.

While the prohibition is intended to curtail any potential risks, it also serves as a reminder to the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities they may come across. Cooperation between the authorities and citizens is crucial in maintaining the security fabric of the nation.

As the ban remains in effect from July 22 to August 16, individuals engaged in recreational aviation activities using the specified aerial platforms are advised to comply with the directive and refrain from flying during this period. Any violation of the order will be met with strict legal action.

Furthermore, the Delhi Police urges the public to avoid spreading misinformation or rumors that may incite unnecessary panic or confusion. Trust in the authorities’ ability to ensure a secure environment for the celebrations and follow any safety instructions issued during the period.

The Delhi Police’s dedication to securing the capital city and its inhabitants during this festive period is commendable. Their efforts, combined with the cooperation of the public, will help ensure a joyous and safe Independence Day celebration, allowing citizens to partake in the festivities with peace of mind.

The ban on “sub-conventional aerial platforms” in Delhi during the Independence Day celebrations underscores the authorities’ commitment to maintaining the safety and security of the nation. This measure is a testament to the Delhi Police’s proactive approach in preempting potential security threats and stands as a collective effort to preserve the spirit of independence and unity. By adhering to the ban and staying vigilant, the citizens of Delhi can ensure a memorable and secure celebration of their nation’s freedom.
