East Jaintia Hills: Newborn Baby Rescued After Being Abandoned in Khaidong Village

A newborn baby was found abandoned in Khaidong village of East Jaintia Hills on April 29. A local resident quickly stepped in, rescued the infant, and arranged immediate medical care. Swift Rescue by Local Resident

Jini Sukhlain discovered the newborn and immediately took action. She secured the infant and arranged transport to the Sutnga Community Health Centre. As a result, doctors began treatment without delay.

At the health centre, medical staff examined the baby and placed the infant under observation. Currently, the child remains stable, while doctors continue regular monitoring.

Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumar Rasgania confirmed that officers registered an FIR at Khliehriat Women Police Station. Soon after, the police team initiated an investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Furthermore, investigators started collecting evidence and questioning locals. They aim to identify the individuals responsible for abandoning the child.
