The Gujarat government has taken precautionary measures in anticipation of the extremely severe cyclonic storm Biparjoy, which is expected to make landfall between Kutch district in Gujarat and Karachi in Pakistan on June 15. The government is deploying teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) in coastal areas to assist with rescue and relief operations.

Additionally, the government plans to set up shelters in six districts that are likely to be impacted by the cyclone. These districts include Kutch, Jamnagar, Morbi, Gir Somnath, Porbandar, and Devbhumi Dwarka. The cyclone is expected to bring heavy rainfall and very high wind speeds reaching up to 150 kmph during the period of June 13-15, according to an official statement.

The exact location of the cyclone’s landfall will be determined in the coming days as further information becomes available. The government’s proactive measures aim to mitigate the potential impact of the cyclone and ensure the safety of the residents in the affected areas.
