India recorded 1,223 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry. The number of active cases also saw a significant drop, decreasing from 18,009 to 16,498.

The country has been battling a devastating second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in recent weeks, with daily cases crossing the 400,000 mark at one point. However, over the past few days, the number of new infections has been decreasing steadily.

India has now reported a total of 26.7 million Covid-19 cases, with 303,720 deaths. The country has administered more than 190 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine so far and is working to ramp up its vaccination drive in the coming weeks.

Despite the decline in cases, experts have warned that the threat of the virus is still very much present and have urged people to continue taking precautions, such as wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

Experts believe that the decline in cases can be attributed to several factors, including the nationwide vaccination drive, increased testing, and strict adherence to Covid protocols.

India’s vaccination drive has been picking up pace, with over 175 million doses administered so far. This has helped to reduce the number of severe cases and hospitalizations.

Additionally, increased testing has also played a crucial role in identifying and isolating positive cases early on. This has helped to prevent further spread of the virus.

Strict adherence to Covid protocols, such as wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and avoiding large gatherings, has also been a contributing factor in curbing the spread of the virus.

Despite the decline in cases, experts warn that the threat of a third wave remains. They emphasize the need to continue following Covid protocols and ramping up vaccination efforts to ensure that the country is prepared to tackle any future waves.
