A woman from Jadda village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tangdhar area gave birth to a baby girl with the assistance of Indian Army medical staff while being transported to a hospital. The woman, identified as Harmida Begam, was referred to a medical facility in critical condition and was being transported to the Kupwara district Headquarters.

The Army expedited her movement at Sadhna Pass, where complications arose, and she went into labor. The Army medical staff quickly responded to the situation, ensuring the safe delivery of the baby and the mother’s well-being. In recognition of the Army’s efforts and the location, the newborn girl was named ‘Sadhna.’

After expediting the patient’s movement at Sadhna Pass, which is under the Army’s supervision, the ambulance swiftly returned to the Pass as the woman went into labor. Colonel Musavi explained that the medical staff faced challenges due to complications that arose during the delivery.

This incident follows a similar case in early 2021 when another woman in the district gave birth in an Army ambulance while en route to a hospital. Both the mother and newborn received further medical care after reaching the hospital. The Sadhna Pass was named after an actress who had previously filmed a movie there.
