This is the third blast in 24 hours. Another explosion rocked Jammu’s Bajalta as the urea tank of a truck carrying sand exploded and injured a police constable.

The blast happened at Bajalta Morh in Sidhra and a total of ten people, including a cop, have been injured in the three blasts. A police constable was injured in Jammu’s Bajalta on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday when a urea tank of the dumper exploded. The blast took place post midnight in Jammu, making it the third blast in a day.

On Saturday midnight, a police constable, identified as Surinder Singh was on duty at Sidhra Chowk (near Nescafe complex) and stopped to check a dumper truck carrying sand. When the truck stopped, at that time, the urea tank (a special tank to clean pollutants from the engine) of the dumper truck exploded and caused minor burn injuries to the police personnel. He has been admitted to a government medical college and his condition is currently stable.

An investigation by police found that it was not an accident and an FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Explosives Act at Nagrota police station. Police accordingly changed its classification as a blast carried out by unknown persons.

On Friday night, a police official said, one of their personnel was injured in a blast underneath a dumper at Bajalta on the Narwal-Sidhra bypass.

on Saturday, leaving nine people injured. Intel sources said two high-intensity blasts took place within 30 minutes in the area. The cause of the explosion is being investigated, he said, adding that the dumper had been stopped by a police party for checking at Bajalta. Cops have not ruled out the terror angle and the blast is being probed.

The first blast happened around 11 am, followed by the second blast after half an hour. Sources said a Mahindra Bolero was used in the first blast. The area was cordoned off and the security was beefed up by the police forces and Army officials. Police suspect that IEDs were used to carry out the blast.
