Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said the State Excise Department and collaborating departments have generated around ₹29 crore in revenue since March 26, 2026. CM Highlights Excise Department’s Contribution
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh praised the Excise Department and other government departments for their coordinated efforts in generating revenue.
He said the department has contributed around ₹29 crore to the state’s financial resources since March 26. The revenue comes at a crucial time as Manipur continues to deal with the financial impact of the crisis that began in May 2023.
The Chief Minister also said the government would examine the grievances raised by the Excise Employees’ Association. He stressed the need to strengthen the department and improve its ability to perform its responsibilities.

Commissioner Finance N. Ashok Kumar said the Excise Department plays an important role in both the financial and public health sectors.
He said the government would support the department by addressing staff shortages, improving infrastructure and providing the policy support needed for effective functioning.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister acknowledged the coordinated efforts of state and Central security forces in containing the crisis that affected Manipur.
Athletes Felicitated
The programme also celebrated achievements in sports. Chief Minister Khemchand felicitated Ariha Pangambam after she became the first Indian to win a gold medal at the recently concluded 10th Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships.
The Chief Minister also felicitated Anjori Pangambam, who secured seventh position in the same championship.
Excise Stations Receive Awards
The programme included awards for Excise Department personnel and stations that demonstrated strong performance and coordination.
Zone-I (HQ) won the award for Best Performing Excise Station (Overall). Nambol Excise Station secured second place, while Zone-II (HQ) finished third.
In the hills category, Kangpokpi Excise Station and Tadubi Excise Station received recognition as Best Performing Excise Stations.
Keithelmanbi Excise Station also received an award for outstanding coordination with other law enforcement departments.
Meritorious and Special Awards
The department presented meritorious awards to four individuals for outstanding performance and dedication to public service.
Organisations and other stakeholders also received Special Awards for their contributions to the development, efficiency and progress of the Excise Department.
The event featured cultural performances and brought together senior government officials, department personnel and other stakeholders.
