CM Lalduhoma Celebrates Development Projects in Hmunpui

Chief Minister Lalduhoma joined villagers in Hmunpui to celebrate the completion of several infrastructure and livelihood projects. The event highlighted the government’s focus on rural development in Mizoram.

During the programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated a newly blacktopped road, a Health Sub-Centre with staff quarters, and new rubber plantation initiatives. Meanwhile, villagers welcomed the projects and thanked the government for improving local facilities.

Government Rebuilds Road at Rs. 3 Crore Cost

While addressing residents, the Chief Minister said the government reconstructed the damaged road under SASCI 2025–26 Part-I at a cost of Rs. 3 crore.

Earlier, the PMGSY road suffered heavy damage and created transportation problems for villagers. Therefore, the government carried out urgent reconstruction work to improve connectivity in the area.

Moreover, residents said the new road would help students, farmers, and daily commuters travel more safely, especially during the monsoon season.

Rubber Mission Inspired by Tripura Model

The Chief Minister also explained the goals of the Rubber Mission launched by the Mizoram government. According to him, the government introduced the initiative after studying the successful rubber plantation model in Tripura.

Under the mission, the state plans to plant more than 51 lakh rubber saplings across 11,500 hectares over the next five years. In the second phase, Hmunpui received 24 hectares of rubber plantation land.

As a result, the project will create sustainable livelihood opportunities for local residents. Village leaders said 24 families will directly benefit from the plantation programme.

New Health Facility to Strengthen Rural Healthcare

The government also opened a new Health Sub-Centre and staff quarters under NABARD RIDF-30 funding. The facility will improve healthcare services for villagers and nearby communities.

In addition, the Chief Minister assured residents that the government would continue supporting development projects in Hmunpui. He also announced that officials are currently surveying the area for a new power supply line.

Because of these projects, residents expect better healthcare access and improved infrastructure in the coming years.

MLA and Villagers Thank the Government

MLA H. Lalzirliana thanked the Chief Minister for accelerating development work in the constituency. He praised the government for focusing on roads, healthcare, and livelihood projects.

Similarly, Village Council Vice President H. Lalduhsanga expressed gratitude on behalf of the villagers. He said the projects would improve living standards and create long-term economic benefits for the community.

Furthermore, residents described the initiatives as important steps toward rural growth and self-reliance.

Importance of Hmunpui in Northeast India

Hmunpui is an important rural settlement in Mizoram, a key state in Northeast India. The region often faces challenges related to connectivity, healthcare access, and employment opportunities.

Therefore, projects such as roads, healthcare centres, and plantation-based livelihood schemes play a major role in improving economic development and living conditions across the Northeast.
