Cyber Crime Investigation Began After Public Complaint

Mizoram Police started the investigation after authorities received information about obscene and sexually explicit content circulating on social media platforms. According to officials, two YouTube channels allegedly uploaded several videos that remained accessible to the general public, including minors.

Furthermore, investigators found that the content prima facie violated Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. These legal provisions deal with the publication and transmission of obscene material online.

As a result, the Cyber Crime Police Station registered an official case on April 26 and immediately launched a technical investigation.

Police Identify and Arrest Two Accused

During the investigation, police worked closely with YouTube authorities to trace the individuals operating the accounts. Eventually, investigators identified the accused on May 14.

Police identified one accused as Henry Lalrinpuia, 29, a resident of Hunthar in Aizawl. Officials alleged that he managed the YouTube channel named “@NGAITHLASUHPUITLINGHUANG.”

Meanwhile, police identified the second accused as Vanlalhmangaihzuala, 35, from Phuldungsei village in Mamit district. According to investigators, he allegedly operated the channel “@puitlinghuangzz.”

Police arrested Lalrinpuia on Friday. Later, authorities apprehended Vanlalhmangaihzuala the following day.

Mobile Phones Seized for Further Probe

Following the arrests, investigators seized the mobile phones of both accused individuals for forensic examination. Officials stated that the devices may contain digital evidence linked to the case.

Moreover, police confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are currently examining additional digital records and online activity connected to the YouTube accounts.

Police also urged social media users to avoid uploading or circulating unlawful content online.

Importance of Mizoram in Northeast India

Mizoram plays an important role in Northeast India due to its growing digital connectivity and increasing use of online platforms among young users. Therefore, cyber crime monitoring and online safety measures remain crucial for protecting internet users, especially minors, in the region.
