The Young Mizo Association (YMA), one of Mizoram’s largest civil society organisations, has questioned the accuracy of the state’s draft electoral rolls prepared under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). After reviewing the draft rolls released on July 4, the association claimed it found several “improbable” errors in the digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs).

YMA Questions Accuracy of Draft Electoral Rolls

The Young Mizo Association (YMA) has questioned the accuracy of Mizoram’s draft electoral rolls released under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

During a press conference in Aizawl on Tuesday, leaders of the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) said they reviewed the draft rolls and found what they described as “improbable” errors in the digitisation of Enumeration Forms (EFs).

According to YMA leaders, officials should verify every entry and remove any errors. As a result, the final voters’ list will include only eligible citizens.

Meanwhile, the issue gained more attention after the transfer of Mizoram Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Garima Gupta to Delhi.

Earlier, Gupta had stated that officials had not observed any abnormal rise in the state’s voter population. However, the YMA continued to seek a detailed review of the draft electoral rolls.
