During the same month, the NEC released a total of ₹76.78 crore for development initiatives across all Northeastern states. In addition, the council supported projects implemented by regional bodies, universities, research institutions, and specialised agencies.

Major Development Projects Planned in Mizoram

In Mizoram, the NEC directed funds toward projects with long-term economic and social benefits. Notably, the council approved the establishment of a fish farmer training centre at Lengpui. The centre will train local farmers, improve fish production, and create new income opportunities.

At the same time, the NEC sanctioned funds for the construction of a Mizo cultural heritage centre at Kawlri in Serchhip district. The centre will preserve Mizo history, traditions, and natural heritage. Moreover, officials expect the project to boost tourism and cultural awareness.

Technology-Based Initiatives to Boost Revenue

Alongside infrastructure projects, the NEC also prioritised technology-driven initiatives in Mizoram. These projects focus on mineral exploitation monitoring, digital resource mapping, and IT-based governance systems.

By adopting modern technology, the state aims to improve transparency and prevent illegal mining. Furthermore, officials believe these initiatives will support sustainable resource management and enhance long-term revenue generation.

Support Extended to Regional Institutions

Meanwhile, out of the total December allocation, the NEC released ₹26.47 crore for regional universities, research institutions, specialised corporations, and cultural organisations. These funds will support programmes that benefit the Northeast as a whole.

Through this support, the council seeks to strengthen academic research, promote innovation, and protect the region’s diverse cultural identity. In addition, several initiatives focus on skill development and capacity building.

NEC Reaffirms Focus on Inclusive Growth

According to the NEC, the latest funding highlights its sustained commitment to inclusive and balanced development in the Northeast. The council continues to prioritise infrastructure creation, livelihood generation, cultural preservation, research, and innovation.

Furthermore, officials stressed that close coordination between the central government, state administrations, and regional institutions remains essential for long-term progress. The NEC reaffirmed that it will continue to support projects that improve connectivity, economic opportunities, and quality of life across the region.
