Sharad Pawar, the founder of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), expressed his belief that opposition unity ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will take time but can be achieved through discussions in the next three to four months. He mentioned that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed the desire for a meeting, and although the date is yet to be decided, Pawar assured his presence whenever it happens.

Sharad Pawar emphasized the need for change and stated that no single party can take responsibility for the entire country. He highlighted the presence of various opposition political parties holding governments in different states, such as Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. Pawar proposed staying in touch with such leaders and working on a common minimum program to provide alternatives to the citizens of the nation.

Additionally, Pawar confirmed his attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of the Congress-led administration in Karnataka on May 20. He mentioned receiving a call from the Congress President, who invited several top leaders and requested his presence at the ceremony. Therefore, Pawar plans to travel to Bengaluru the following day to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah.
