Hollywood’s iconic superhero has taken Indian theatres by storm. The latest reboot of Superman collected a staggering Rs. 7 crore on its opening day across India, making it one of the biggest foreign openers of the year so far.

The Superman India box office day 1 figures have outpaced several domestic and international releases, including Maalik and F1: Drive to Survive. The movie performed particularly well in metros like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Strong Advance Bookings and Youth Appeal

The film saw robust advance bookings starting midweek, with many premium formats like IMAX and 4DX selling out quickly. Multiplex chains reported 80–90% occupancy across major cities, especially for evening and night shows.

Thanks to high anticipation and a loyal fanbase, Superman gained traction among younger audiences. The film’s blend of action, emotional depth, and visual effects has attracted both comic book fans and casual moviegoers.

Superman Tops Friday Charts

Trade analysts confirmed that Superman not only led Friday’s box office but also outperformed domestic titles. Maalik, which debuted on the same day, earned Rs. 2.6 crore, while F1 recorded Rs. 1.9 crore.

This box office success for a Hollywood title highlights India’s growing appetite for superhero films. It also reflects the rising popularity of event-style cinema that draws mass audiences on the very first day.

According to Box Office India, this is the second-highest day 1 collection for a Hollywood film in India this year, only behind Deadpool & Wolverine.

Word of Mouth and Critics’ Praise

The opening day response was amplified by positive early reviews. Critics have praised the film’s story, emotional arcs, and grounded portrayal of Superman. Henry Cavill’s performance as the iconic superhero continues to win hearts, and the rebooted origin story seems to have struck the right chord with Indian viewers.

Film critic Rohan Naahar wrote, “This is not just a superhero movie; it’s a human story wrapped in myth. And it works.”

Tier-2 Cities Show Growth

While Superman dominated in urban centers, the film also surprised trade analysts with good footfalls in Tier-2 cities like Indore, Kochi, and Patna. The Hindi and Tamil dubbed versions made up nearly 40% of the total revenue on day one.

PVR INOX officials confirmed that several regional screens saw higher-than-expected demand, thanks to family audiences and strong word-of-mouth publicity.

Weekend Projections Look Strong

Looking ahead, trade experts expect the movie to earn between Rs. 22 crore and Rs. 25 crore over its opening weekend. Saturday and Sunday bookings have shown an upward trend, especially in premium formats.

If the momentum continues, Superman could cross the Rs. 50 crore mark in India within its first week—a strong result for a non-franchise standalone superhero film.

Competition Ahead

Despite its excellent start, the film will face competition next weekend from local releases, including Vande Bharat and Love in Kolkata. However, with positive buzz and repeat value, Superman is expected to maintain a steady run.

Trade sources also hint at an extended theatrical run in India, especially if the film continues to dominate night shows and sees minimal weekday drops.

With Rs. 7 crore earned on day one, the Superman India box office day 1 report reflects a successful launch for the DC reboot. It has surpassed films like Maalik and F1, reaffirming Indian audiences’ love for big-screen spectacles.

Whether this success translates into long-term box office dominance depends on weekend trends and audience retention. But for now, Superman has truly landed in India with style—and strength.
