Tripura SIR house-to-house verification will form a key stage of the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls after the Election Commission of India revised the state’s schedule. The exercise will cover voters across Tripura’s Assembly constituencies and aims to improve the accuracy of electoral records.

Under the revised timetable, preparatory work, Booth Level Officer training and printing of electoral rolls will continue from October 27 to November 5. Door-to-door verification will then take place from November 6 to December 5, rather than beginning immediately in early October.

The revision has been rescheduled because of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council Village Committee elections held on September 28. Meanwhile, officials have urged eligible voters to remain alert and cooperate with Booth Level Officers during the verification process.

Tripura SIR House-to-House Verification Gets Revised Timeline

The Election Commission has fixed October 27 as the starting point for the revised SIR process in Tripura. Preparatory activities will continue until November 5, allowing election officials to complete training and printing work before the field-level verification begins.

From November 6 to December 5, Booth Level Officers will conduct Tripura SIR house-to-house verification across the state. During these visits, officials will examine electoral records and identify discrepancies that may require correction or further verification.

The Election Commission has set January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date for the revision. Therefore, citizens who become eligible by that date will have an opportunity to participate through the prescribed electoral registration process.

The revised schedule also includes polling-station rationalisation and reorganisation. Authorities plan to complete that stage by December 5, alongside the door-to-door verification process.

Why Voter Verification Matters Across Tripura

The SIR exercise seeks to maintain an electoral roll that includes eligible citizens while addressing entries that may contain errors, duplication or other discrepancies. Consequently, the process involves more than simply checking whether a voter’s name appears on the existing list.

Booth Level Officers will visit residences as part of Tripura SIR house-to-house verification and collect information required under the prescribed procedure. If officials identify an issue with a particular entry, the case can move through the appropriate electoral process for further examination.

Officials have also clarified that an eligible voter’s name cannot simply disappear from the electoral roll without following the prescribed legal procedure. Similarly, if an entry requires removal or correction, authorities must handle the matter under the applicable election rules.

Furthermore, the process provides opportunities for citizens to raise claims and objections after publication of the draft electoral roll. This mechanism is important because voters can seek correction or inclusion when they find inaccuracies in their electoral details.

The exercise is therefore designed to combine verification with opportunities for correction. In addition, officials have urged citizens to check their names and other particulars carefully as the revision progresses.

Draft Roll and Claims Process Set for December

The Election Commission plans to publish the draft electoral roll on December 12, 2026. Officials will first complete the initial verification and related activities. After publication, eligible citizens can submit claims and objections to correct errors or address omissions.

According to the revised schedule, the claims and objections period will run until January 10, 2027. Officials will then examine the submissions and complete the notice and disposal process by February 9.

This stage gives voters another opportunity to correct problems in the draft roll. For example, citizens can report incorrect details or request the inclusion of eligible family members whose names do not appear on the list. They must follow the prescribed procedure to seek appropriate action.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has set February 15, 2027, for publication of the final electoral roll. Officials will complete the claims, objections and disposal process before releasing the final list.

The revised schedule also allows officials to consider applications for the later qualifying dates of April 1, July 1 and October 1, 2027. Therefore, voters can continue updating their electoral records through the applicable procedures.

The schedule gives voters several opportunities to review and challenge electoral information. Consequently, citizens can address discrepancies even if they missed them during the initial house-to-house verification.

Officials Urge Voters to Remain Alert

District officials have started public awareness campaigns ahead of field verification. In South Tripura, District Magistrate Mohammad Sajjad P. explained the revised SIR schedule during a media interaction. He also urged citizens to remain informed and avoid confusion about the process.

Officials have highlighted support measures for people who may face difficulties during the revision. They plan to organise special help desks and camps for eligible citizens. These facilities will assist labourers, homeless people, night-shelter residents and economically vulnerable groups.

New voters and eligible citizens whose names may be missing can also contact the Electoral Registration Officer. They can use the applicable continuous-updation process to address such issues. Additionally, officials expect citizens to cooperate with Booth Level Officers when verification begins in November.

The revised timetable reflects the overlap between major electoral activities in Tripura. The Election Commission postponed the original SIR schedule because the Village Committee elections under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council took place on September 28.

The revised dates will allow officials to conduct the SIR exercise after completing their local election responsibilities. Consequently, election authorities can focus on electoral verification without overlapping the two major exercises.

For voters, the immediate priority is to follow the revised dates. The Tripura SIR house-to-house verification phase will begin on November 6 and continue until December 5. The Commission expects to publish the draft electoral roll on December 12.

Conclusion

The Tripura SIR house-to-house verification drive will begin on November 6 under the Election Commission’s revised timetable. Officials will examine electoral records across the state and provide procedures for correcting errors and addressing omissions.

The draft roll will follow on December 12, while the final electoral roll is due on February 15, 2027. Between these dates, voters can submit claims and objections and seek corrections through the prescribed process. Eligible citizens should check their electoral details and follow official announcements to avoid missing important deadlines.
