A 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed while his friend was injured in an alleged attack by two youths over personal enmity in the Mandawali area of east Delhi, as per the police on Monday. The accused, identified as Ansh and Punit, both 19 years old, have been arrested while two juveniles have been apprehended in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when Abhishek Gupta (24) and his friend Anurag Shukla (22) reached the Ganesh Nagar complex. According to the police, a group of people confronted them and threatened Gupta. The altercation allegedly turned physical, and the accused youths attacked Gupta and Shukla with knives.

Gupta sustained fatal injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Shukla sustained injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

The police launched an investigation into the incident and identified the accused based on CCTV footage from the area. Ansh and Punit were arrested on Sunday, while the two juveniles were apprehended on Monday.

The police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack.

The incident has once again brought the issue of rising crime in the city to the forefront. The police have been struggling to curb the rise in incidents of violence in Delhi in recent years. There have been several instances of violent crimes, including murder and rape, reported from various parts of the city.

The Delhi government and the police have taken several steps to address the issue, including increasing police presence in sensitive areas and deploying special teams to tackle crimes against women. However, these measures have had limited success in curbing the rising crime rate.

The incident has also highlighted the need for better rehabilitation and counseling programs for juvenile offenders. The two juveniles apprehended in connection with the incident are reportedly repeat offenders, and it is believed that they were involved in several other criminal activities in the area.

Experts have stressed the need for early intervention and counseling for at-risk youth to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities. There is also a need for better monitoring and supervision of juveniles who have been released from detention centers to ensure that they do not reoffend.

The incident has once again underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to tackling crime in the city. The government, the police, and civil society must work together to address the root causes of crime and develop effective strategies to prevent and reduce crime in the city.
