Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently inaugurated two Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) wellness centres in Panchkula and Chandigarh, underscoring the significance of quality healthcare as a priority for the Narendra Modi government. With the opening of these centres, Chandigarh now boasts two CGHS wellness centres, while the Panchkula centre was inaugurated by the minister through a virtual link.

During the inauguration, Minister Mandaviya stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring that citizens have access to quality healthcare. He stated, “It has been the priority of the Narendra Modi government that citizens get quality healthcare.” Recognizing the pivotal role of health in a nation’s prosperity, he added, “If a country has to be made prosperous, it is important that its citizens are healthy. Healthy citizens build a healthy society which in turn leads to a prosperous nation.”

The inauguration of these wellness centres reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and expand access to medical services across the country. The CGHS wellness centres aim to provide comprehensive healthcare facilities to Central Government employees, pensioners, and their dependents. These centres offer a wide range of services, including outpatient consultations, diagnostic tests, pharmacy services, and specialist consultations.

By expanding the presence of CGHS wellness centres, the government aims to ensure that individuals have access to quality healthcare close to their homes. This initiative is particularly significant in the current context, as the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of a robust healthcare system that can effectively respond to the needs of the population.

The newly inaugurated wellness centres in Panchkula and Chandigarh will play a crucial role in catering to the healthcare needs of Central Government employees and their families residing in these areas. The CGHS wellness centres are equipped with modern medical facilities and staffed with qualified healthcare professionals who are dedicated to delivering high-quality care.

Furthermore, the government’s focus on healthcare extends beyond the physical infrastructure. In recent years, there has been an increased emphasis on digital health solutions and telemedicine services, which have proven to be vital during the pandemic. These technological advancements have enabled individuals to access healthcare remotely, reducing the need for physical visits and minimizing the risk of transmission.

The Narendra Modi government’s commitment to prioritizing healthcare is evident in its various initiatives, such as Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). Launched in 2018, AB-PMJAY is the world’s largest government-funded healthcare program, aiming to provide health insurance coverage to over 500 million vulnerable individuals across the country. Through this scheme, beneficiaries can avail themselves of cashless treatment for a wide range of medical conditions in empaneled hospitals.

In addition to expanding access to healthcare services, the government has also taken significant steps to enhance medical education and research. This includes the establishment of new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), upgrading district hospitals, and promoting research in the field of healthcare. These efforts are crucial for building a robust healthcare system that can cater to the diverse healthcare needs of the population.

The inauguration of the CGHS wellness centres in Panchkula and Chandigarh reaffirms the Modi government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to its citizens. By expanding access to comprehensive healthcare services, the government aims to build a healthier society and ultimately contribute to a prosperous nation. With ongoing initiatives and investments in healthcare infrastructure, the government is working towards achieving its vision of a healthy and resilient India.
