Assembly Raises Concern Over Discrimination

Members of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly expressed serious concern about incidents of racism targeting people from Northeast states. Moreover, lawmakers said such discrimination harms the dignity and safety of citizens.

Therefore, the Assembly called for stronger legal provisions to prevent racial harassment and ensure justice for victims.

Demand for Stronger Legal Protection

The Assembly emphasised the need for a dedicated anti-racism law. Furthermore, legislators argued that existing laws do not adequately address racial discrimination faced by people from the Northeast.

In addition, they stressed that stricter legal frameworks would help deter such incidents and strengthen protections for citizens.

Protecting the Identity of Northeast Communities

Lawmakers also highlighted that people from the Northeast possess unique cultural identities and traditions. Meanwhile, discrimination based on appearance, language, or ethnicity continues to affect many individuals.
