In a heartfelt Instagram post, veteran Bollywood actor Zeenat Aman paid tribute to late actor and filmmaker Dev Anand, with whom she shared a close creative bond. Aman credited Anand with giving her the big break that launched her career, with the iconic film “Hare Rama Hare Krishna” in 1971.
Aman referred to Anand as a “fount of creative energy” and expressed her delight at having his guidance during the early years of her career. She recalled their close partnership, which resulted in a number of successful films, and spoke warmly of their friendship both on and off set.
However, Aman also addressed a sensitive topic related to Anand’s autobiography “Romancing with Life,” in which he insinuated that she had been romantically involved with another cinema legend, Raj Kapoor. Aman referred to this as a “great misunderstanding,” and expressed her disappointment at the way in which Anand had portrayed their relationship in the book.
Despite this, Aman’s tribute to Anand was overwhelmingly positive, as she spoke of the profound impact that he had on her life and career. The Instagram post was widely shared and sparked renewed interest in the work of both Aman and Anand in Indian cinema.
