Himachal Pradesh Seeks Financial Assistance from Union Minister for Rural Olympiad Games

Himachal Pradesh Sports Minister Vikramaditya Singh has approached Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, requesting financial assistance from the Ministry of Sports or other related agencies to organize the “Rural Olympiad Games” in the state. The event is scheduled to take place in September and aims to promote young talent in the region.

In a meeting held in New Delhi on Wednesday evening, Singh briefed Union Minister Scindia about the decision to host the “Rural Olympiad Games” in Himachal Pradesh. The event is expected to be a mega sports extravaganza and will feature competitions in sports such as volleyball, kabaddi, wrestling, boxing, and football at various levels, including block, district, and state.

Singh emphasized that the primary objective of organizing the event is to provide a platform for the rural youth to showcase their sporting skills and talents. With an estimated participation of around 50,000 individuals, the Rural Olympiad Games aim to engage a significant number of young athletes from different parts of the state.

The Sports Minister highlighted the importance of financial assistance from the Ministry of Sports or other associated agencies to successfully execute the event. By securing funding, the state government will be able to ensure the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and logistical arrangements for the games. Additionally, financial support will enable the event organizers to provide adequate facilities for the participants and create a conducive environment for their development and growth in sports.

The “Rural Olympiad Games” have the potential to significantly contribute to the overall promotion of sports in Himachal Pradesh. By encouraging participation at the grassroots level, the event aims to identify and nurture talent from rural areas, where sporting opportunities may be limited. Such initiatives not only provide a platform for young athletes but also serve as an inspiration for others to pursue sports and a healthy lifestyle.
