Ministers to Grace the Opening Ceremony

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona will attend the inaugural ceremony as chief guests. Their presence underscores the Centre’s and the state government’s focus on promoting cultural tourism and regional identity.

Officials said the festival will serve as a platform to connect Arunachal’s communities with a wider national audience. It will also highlight investment and tourism opportunities in the state.

Cultural Performances and Ethnic Fashion Show

The festival will feature a series of folk music and cultural performances that reflect the traditions of Arunachal’s diverse tribal communities. Artists will present traditional dances, songs, and storytelling that capture the spirit of the eastern Himalayan region.

One of the key attractions will be an ethnic fashion show. Models will showcase traditional attire representing different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. The show will celebrate intricate weaving patterns, vibrant textiles, and unique ornaments worn by various communities.

Yak Dance and Himalayan Traditions

A major highlight of the event is the Yak Dance. This traditional performance symbolises the high-altitude Himalayan lifestyle and reflects the deep bond between local communities and nature.

The Yak Dance represents the cultural life of tribes living in mountainous regions. It also portrays themes of survival, harmony with nature, and respect for animals that sustain livelihoods in remote areas.

Through such performances, organisers hope to create greater awareness about Arunachal’s indigenous heritage and ecological traditions.

Showcasing Handlooms, Crafts and Cuisine

Visitors can explore a wide range of traditional products at the festival stalls. Artisans will display handwoven textiles, bamboo and cane crafts, and handcrafted tribal jewellery. The exhibition will also feature organic produce sourced from different districts of the state.

In addition, food stalls will offer regional cuisine, allowing visitors to experience authentic flavours from Arunachal Pradesh. Traditional dishes prepared with local herbs and organic ingredients are expected to attract food enthusiasts.

Officials said such exhibitions help local artisans and self-help groups reach new markets. They also promote sustainable livelihoods by encouraging demand for indigenous products.

Promoting Tourism in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’

Arunachal Pradesh is home to more than 26 major tribes and over 100 sub-tribes. Each community maintains distinct customs, dialects, festivals, and art forms. The state is often called the “Land of the Rising Sun” because it is the first Indian state to receive the morning sun.

Through the Festival of Arunachal, the tourism department aims to showcase the state’s scenic landscapes, adventure tourism, monasteries, wildlife, and cultural diversity. Officials believe the event will inspire travellers to explore destinations across the eastern Himalayas.

With its vibrant performances, traditional crafts, and culinary experiences, the two-day festival promises to offer visitors in the national capital a glimpse into the rich cultural mosaic of Arunachal Pradesh while strengthening the state’s tourism outreach.
