Indra Hang Subba has written to the Delhi Police seeking prompt and strict action against neighbours accused of racially abusing and intimidating three women from Arunachal Pradesh in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar.
The incident, which reportedly took place on February 20, has drawn widespread attention after a video of the confrontation surfaced on social media.

Dispute Over Repair Work Escalates
According to police officials, the altercation occurred around 3:30 pm at a residential complex in Malviya Nagar. The dispute began over drilling and electrical installation work being carried out in the women’s rented fourth-floor apartment.
Authorities stated that dust and noise from the repair work triggered objections from neighbours. However, the situation quickly escalated beyond a routine disagreement.
The women allegedly faced racial slurs, humiliation and threats during the confrontation. A video clip of the incident later circulated widely online, sparking public outrage and renewed concern over discrimination against people from the Northeast living in the national capital.
Letter to Special Commissioner
In a letter addressed to Special Commissioner David Lalrinsanga, Subba described the episode as a grave violation of constitutional values. He stated that the incident went far beyond a neighbourhood dispute and amounted to racial hostility.
The MP called for a fair, impartial and thorough investigation into the matter. He urged police authorities to rely on video evidence and witness statements to establish accountability.
Subba also demanded strict legal action against those responsible. He emphasised that the women’s safety, dignity and protection must remain a priority throughout the investigation.
Call for Zero Tolerance
Subba expressed confidence that swift and transparent action by the Delhi Police would help restore public trust. He said strong enforcement of the law would send a clear message that racial discrimination will not be tolerated in the national capital.
