The Bodh Gaya Act repeal protest gained momentum in Sikkim, where senior leader Tsheten Tashi Bhutia urged lawmakers to take an active role in the movement. Call for Political Leadership

Addressing protesters, Tsheten Tashi Bhutia stressed that elected representatives must play a leading role in the movement. Moreover, he argued that MLAs have the responsibility to represent the concerns of the people and advocate for policy changes.

Therefore, he called on political leaders to actively support the demand for repealing the Bodh Gaya Temple Act.

Protest Over Temple Management Law

Protesters at the dharna expressed dissatisfaction with provisions of the Bodh Gaya Temple Act, which governs the administration of the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya. Furthermore, activists believe the current framework does not adequately reflect the interests of the Buddhist community.

In addition, protesters demanded reforms to ensure fair representation in temple management.

Growing Support for the Movement

The Bodh Gaya Act repeal protest has attracted participation from community members and activists. Meanwhile, organisers say the movement aims to raise awareness about the issue and build broader support.

Consequently, leaders have called for peaceful demonstrations and dialogue with authorities.

Looking Ahead

The remarks by Tsheten Tashi Bhutia highlight the political dimension of the ongoing protest. Ultimately, supporters of the movement hope that sustained public engagement will lead to policy discussions regarding the Bodh Gaya Temple Act.
