Two Arrested in Drug Seizure
Acting during a routine operation on June 29, security forces intercepted a Tata Yodha vehicle at the T-Khullen Naka Check Point under Senapati Police Station. During the search, officers recovered 42 soap cases containing approximately 530 grams of suspected brown sugar.
Following the seizure, security personnel arrested the vehicle’s driver, Helkho Kipgen (45) of Keithelmanbi village, and Hatneilhing Kipgen (40) of Hengbung village, both from Kangpokpi district.
In addition, officers seized the vehicle and recovered ₹5,000 in cash from the accused.
Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Jiribam
In another operation on the same day, Manipur Police conducted a search in a forest area at Champanagar under Jiribam Police Station.
As a result, the team recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, including six Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), one AK rifle, five magazines, and 625 live rounds of different calibres.
The recovered weapons have been taken into police custody for further examination.
Investigation Underway
Police have initiated legal proceedings in both cases. Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine the origin of the suspected narcotics and the recovered weapons.
