Prime Accused Arrested During Investigation
On July 22, police arrested the prime accused, Ramjan Ali Bhuyan (24), a resident of Aironjongla Pt-I under Dhubri Police Station.
According to police, Bhuyan allegedly confessed during custodial interrogation to stealing several gold ornaments from the residence. The stolen items reportedly included six pairs of gold earrings, four gold nose rings, and one gold bilet.
Investigation Uncovers Alleged Stolen Property Racket
Furthermore, Bhuyan’s alleged confession helped investigators trace an alleged network involved in handling the stolen jewellery.
Police claimed that Tapan Karmakar, a resident of Gauripur, allegedly melted the stolen gold to destroy evidence and conceal its origin. Investigators also alleged that Shyamol Ray coordinated the transaction involving the stolen ornaments.
Additionally, the investigation led police to Hari Om Gold and Silver Testing Centre, where the stolen jewellery was allegedly accepted by the proprietor, Harish C.H. Bhosle, and a staff member, Rupak Choudhury. Police have made these allegations as part of the ongoing investigation.
Coordinated Raids Lead to Recovery
Based on evidence collected during the investigation, Dhubri Police conducted coordinated raids on July 23.
As a result, officers recovered all the stolen gold ornaments, marking a significant breakthrough in the case. Police credited the swift investigation and coordinated operations for successfully tracing the stolen property.
