Three Arrested in PMGSY Fraud Case

According to police, the accused claimed that Rajesh Kumar Singh had close links with officials at the Centre. They allegedly said he could use those connections to help release the payment.
Police Discover Fake Clearance Letter
The accused allegedly gave the contractor a letter that claimed officials had cleared his pending bill.
The contractor later approached the Chief Engineer’s office of the Rural Works Department (RWD). Officials there allegedly told him that the letter was fake.
The discovery raised further questions about the alleged scheme. Police then continued their investigation into the accused and the documents involved.
Court Rejects Singh’s Plea
Rajesh Kumar Singh later approached the court. He sought to quash the FIR registered against him.
The court rejected his plea on August 13. The decision allowed police to continue their investigation.
Police then sent a team to Guwahati. The team arrested Singh there on August 25.
A court later sent Singh to six days of police custody, SP Nyelam Nega said.
Police Examine Roles of All Accused
Police are now investigating the alleged fraud in greater detail. They are also examining the individual roles of Toluk Lombi, Dubi Ete and Rajesh Kumar Singh.
Investigators will also verify the claims about official connections. They will examine how the alleged fake clearance letter reached the contractor.
Authorities have not yet announced the final findings of the investigation.
Police Issue Warning to Contractors
SP Nyelam Nega has also issued an important warning to contractors.
He urged people working on government projects to remain cautious about such claims. He advised them not to trust anyone who demands money by claiming political or official connections.
Nega also asked contractors to contact the relevant government department directly. They should verify payment claims before making any payment.
