Arunachal Pradesh: IMD Issues Four-Day Rain and Thunderstorm Alert From September 6

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms and lightning across several districts of Arunachal Pradesh from Sunday, September 6. The weather department expects adverse conditions to continue across different parts of the state for four days.

Rain and Thunderstorms Expected on Sunday

According to the IMD forecast, several districts may experience rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, September 6.

These include West Kameng, East Kameng, Papum Pare, Siang, Upper Siang, East Siang, Namsai, Changlang, Tirap and Longding.

Moreover, the IMD has warned about thunderstorms and lightning in several of these areas. East Kameng, Papum Pare, Changlang and parts of Tirap may also receive heavier rainfall.

Weather Alert Continues on Monday

The unsettled weather is likely to continue on Monday, September 7. The IMD expects rain and thunderstorms in Tawang, Kamle, Lepa Rada, Namsai, Tirap and Longding.

Thunderstorm activity could affect Tawang and Kamle. Meanwhile, Lepa Rada, Namsai and several eastern districts will remain under weather watch.

More Districts on Alert Tuesday

On Tuesday, September 8, Kurung Kumey, Lepa Rada, Tirap and Longding may experience rain and thunderstorms.

The forecast also indicates possible thunderstorm and lightning activity in these districts. Therefore, residents should remain cautious, particularly during periods of intense weather.

Weather Watch Extends Into Wednesday

The adverse conditions may continue into Wednesday, September 9. The IMD expects Kurung Kumey, Changlang, Tirap and Longding to remain under the weather watch.

Heavy rain and lightning could create difficulties in vulnerable areas. In addition, rainfall may increase the risk of landslides and localised flooding.

SEOC Issues Safety Advisory

The State Emergency Operation Centre has asked residents to remain alert during periods of severe weather.

In particular, people living near steep slopes, landslide-prone zones and areas vulnerable to flooding should exercise extra caution. Residents should also stay updated with official weather advisories as conditions can change quickly.
