A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the Delhi Police to investigate allegations of sexual harassment against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh. The announcement was made in a special court in New Delhi on Friday in response to the court’s earlier order to file a status report. The public prosecutor, Atul Srivastava, informed the court that the SIT will be investigating the case, which has been taken seriously. He also stated that a status report has been filed in the matter, which has been submitted in a sealed cover and should not be shared with anyone due to the nature of the case.

The court posted the matter for further hearing on May 27 after issuing a notice to the Delhi Police on a plea made by the wrestlers seeking monitoring of the probe and recording of the statement of the alleged victims before the court. The Delhi Police has filed two FIRs, including one under section 10 of the POCSO Act against Brij Bhushan Singh, who has denied all the charges. The wrestlers have been demanding his arrest, accusing him of sexually exploiting several women wrestlers, including a minor.

The police have also recorded the statement of Assistant Secretary WFI Vinod Tomar, who is also an accused in the FIR. Brij Bhushan Singh has requested the collection of video evidence and mobile data in his clarification. SIT will also interrogate Singh further, the police said. The SIT has been formed with six police teams, including four women police officers, under the supervision of a woman DCP.
