However, the movie faced a hurdle when it was brought to Mayor Shah’s attention that a line in the film wrongly portrayed Sita as a daughter of India.
Mayor Shah took to Facebook to express his concerns, stating, “Until the line ‘Janaki is a daughter of India’ contained in the South Indian film ‘Adipurush’ is removed not just in Nepal but also in India, no Hindi films will be allowed to run in Kathmandu Metropolitan City (sic).” His post generated significant attention and sparked discussions about the film’s historical accuracy.
The issue at hand revolves around the depiction of Sita’s birthplace. Sita, a central figure in the Hindu epic Ramayana, is believed to have been born in Janakpur, Nepal.
