Atherosclerosis is a common condition characterized by the buildup of plaque in the arteries, narrowing them and potentially leading to heart attacks and strokes.

Understanding Atherosclerosis: Atherosclerosis begins with the accumulation of fatty deposits, cholesterol, and other substances on the inner walls of arteries. Over time, this buildup narrows the arteries, reducing blood flow.

Risk Factors: Factors contributing to atherosclerosis include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, obesity, diabetes, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Prevention and Management: Lifestyle modifications, such as a heart-healthy diet, regular exercise, not smoking, and managing underlying conditions like diabetes, are key to preventing and managing atherosclerosis. Medications or surgical interventions may be recommended in advanced cases.
