Introduction

In a surprising development just ahead of the third meeting of the Opposition bloc – Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) – a spokesperson for the Aam Admi Party (AAP), Priyanka Kakkar, expressed her desire to see Arvind Kejriwal, the party’s convenor and Delhi Chief Minister, as the prime ministerial candidate for the alliance. Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Kakkar stated, “If you ask me, I would want Arvind Kejriwal to be the Prime Ministerial candidate (of the Opposition alliance).”

Kakkar further highlighted Kejriwal’s role in bringing public issues to the forefront and positioning himself as a credible challenger to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. She emphasized that Kejriwal has been outspoken on various subjects and has even questioned the academic qualifications of the current Prime Minister. “Be it the PM’s academic records or qualifications or any other issue, Arvind Kejriwal has been putting across his views boldly on myriad subjects,” she told ANI.

This unexpected statement has added a new dimension to the upcoming INDIA meeting in Mumbai, which is scheduled to start on Wednesday and continue into Thursday. The meeting is expected to include discussions on the bloc’s strategies for the upcoming state elections and the crucial general elections next year. The alliance comprises a total of 26 parties, with its members joining forces against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre.

AAP Highlights his achievements

The spokesperson for AAP further highlighted the achievements of the party’s governance in Delhi, stating that despite rising prices of essential commodities, the national capital has the “lowest” inflation. She underlined the government’s initiatives such as providing free water, education, electricity, and bus rides for women, as well as free pilgrimage for the elderly. Kakkar emphasized that Kejriwal has effectively raised people’s issues and is emerging as a formidable challenger to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The INDIA partners are expected to unveil their logo during the Mumbai meeting and discuss strategies that could shape the political landscape ahead of upcoming elections. The alliance’s previous meetings were convened in Patna by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on June 23 and in Bengaluru by Congress-ruled Karnataka on July 17-18.

Conclusion

As the Opposition alliance continues to solidify its stance against the ruling party, all eyes are on the unfolding dynamics and decisions that will be made during this crucial meeting. The potential nomination of Arvind Kejriwal as the prime ministerial candidate could have far-reaching implications for the upcoming electoral battles in India.
