Full News Report

Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Monday asserted that ADC (Autonomous District Council) areas in the state are becoming increasingly supportive of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He linked this trend to what he described as rising trust among tribal communities in the ruling party.

He made the remarks while addressing an election meeting at Chakmapara under booth number 20 of the Bodhjangnagar–Wakinagar constituency. During his speech, he urged voters to support the “double engine government” to ensure faster and inclusive development.

Furthermore, Nath criticized opposition parties, stating that they rely on “false allegations of deprivation” to gain political support. According to him, such narratives harm tribal communities instead of helping them progress.

At the same time, he argued that regional political parties struggle to sustain themselves because they fail to prioritize development. He emphasized that the BJP remains committed to the welfare and progress of tribal populations through its “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” approach.

Highlighting the party’s growth, Nath noted that the BJP, founded 46 years ago, has become the world’s largest political party with nearly 140 million members. In contrast, he mentioned the Indian National Congress, which was established over a century ago, and also referenced the Communist Party of China to compare membership size.

In addition, Nath outlined the BJP’s parliamentary strength. He said the party currently has 240 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 106 in the Rajya Sabha, while the NDA alliance holds a majority in both Houses. He also pointed out that the BJP and its allies govern multiple states, including Tripura.

Turning to development work, Nath highlighted several welfare initiatives in the Wakinagar area. He stated that over the past 7.5 years, the government has provided 418 houses to 763 families. Moreover, 453 families have received free rice, while 362 individuals benefit from social pensions, which have also increased.

He added that 413 families now have access to piped drinking water. Additionally, 96 beneficiaries have reportedly achieved significant economic progress through government schemes.

Meanwhile, Nath claimed that tribal communities are gradually moving away from regional parties due to their limited development record. He also stated that the BJP has given due recognition to tribal communities, noting that many recent Padma Shri awardees from the state belong to tribal groups.

Referring to Narendra Modi, Nath said several initiatives for tribal welfare have been implemented under his leadership. He also highlighted symbolic steps, such as naming the state airport after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma and declaring a holiday on his birth anniversary.

Finally, Nath criticized previous governments led by the Congress and the CPI(M), alleging that they failed to provide basic facilities to tribal populations. He reiterated that the BJP government will continue implementing schemes related to housing, food security, and infrastructure for all sections of society.
