In a recent incident, a fire broke out in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a multi-storey private hospital building in Greater Noida. Prompt action and efficient rescue efforts resulted in the safe evacuation of five individuals from the facility. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire was successfully extinguished within an hour, according to Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey.

The fire incident occurred at Naveen Hospital, situated in the Alpha 2 sector of Greater Noida. The flames originated in the ICU, which is located on the hospital’s fourth floor. Upon receiving the emergency call, the fire department immediately dispatched firefighting personnel to the scene.

Chief Fire Officer Choubey stated, “The fire was reported from Naveen Hospital in Alpha 2 sector of Greater Noida. The fire broke out in the ICU of the hospital located on the fourth floor.” The precise cause of the fire is yet to be determined and is currently under investigation.

Thanks to the quick response from the fire department and the coordinated efforts of the hospital staff, all individuals present in the ICU were safely rescued. The evacuation process was carried out swiftly and efficiently, ensuring that no harm befell the patients, doctors, or other healthcare workers.

The Chief Fire Officer commended the efforts of the firefighting team, stating, “Our firefighters worked diligently to control the fire and prevent its spread to other areas of the hospital. Their prompt response and effective strategies played a crucial role in minimizing the potential risks and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.”

Firefighters equipped with fire extinguishers and other firefighting equipment swiftly entered the ICU and commenced operations to suppress the fire. Simultaneously, hospital staff initiated the evacuation protocol, ensuring the smooth transfer of patients to safer areas within the hospital premises. The combined efforts of the fire department and the hospital staff were instrumental in maintaining order and preventing panic among patients and their families.

Authorities cordoned off the area around the hospital to facilitate the smooth operation of emergency services. Additional fire engines and personnel were deployed as a precautionary measure. The fire was contained and extinguished within an hour, preventing any further damage to the hospital building and its occupants.

An official investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage caused to the ICU and other areas of the hospital. Fire safety protocols and equipment within the hospital will also be evaluated to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The hospital administration expressed gratitude for the swift response of the fire department and the successful rescue operation. They assured the public that all necessary measures would be taken to restore normalcy and ensure the continued provision of healthcare services.

Incidents like these highlight the critical importance of fire safety measures and emergency preparedness in all public establishments, especially healthcare facilities where the lives of vulnerable individuals are at stake. Regular fire safety drills, well-maintained firefighting equipment, and trained personnel are essential components to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.

As the investigation progresses, authorities will focus on identifying any lapses in fire safety protocols and take appropriate action to prevent such incidents in the future. This incident serves as a reminder to prioritize fire safety and maintain strict adherence to regulations to safeguard lives and property.
