India and France Strengthen Bilateral Ties in Defence and Nuclear Cooperation

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron recently met in Hiroshima on the sidelines of the G7 summit to discuss the progress and expansion of their strategic partnership. The leaders expressed satisfaction with the advancements in various areas, particularly in co-production and manufacturing in the defence sector and civil nuclear cooperation. They also touched upon Prime Minister Modi’s upcoming visit to France in July for Bastille Day.

Bastille Day is a significant event in France, commemorating the French Revolution, and Prime Minister Modi’s presence would symbolize the close bond between the two nations.

The meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Macron demonstrates the commitment of both countries to deepen their engagement across various sectors. The strategic ties between India and France have witnessed substantial growth in recent years, with collaborations in defence, space, technology, and trade. Both nations have recognized the mutual benefits that arise from such partnerships and have expressed their intention to further expand cooperation in newer domains.
