Sita Dahal, Wife of Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda, Passes Away at 69

Sita Dahal, the wife of Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda,’ has tragically passed away at the age of 69. Sita had been battling a rare neurological condition and had been undergoing treatment at Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu. Her death was confirmed by the doctors at 8.33 am on Wednesday, according to the Prime Minister’s press coordinator, Surya Kiran Sharma.

Sita Dahal, in addition to her role as the Prime Minister’s wife, was an adviser to the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre). She had been suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder, along with Parkinsonism, Diabetes Mellitus-II, and Hypertension for an extended period.

The news of Sita Dahal’s passing has brought profound sadness and grief to Nepal and its political community. She was known for her dedication to public service and her involvement in political affairs. As an adviser to the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), Sita played an active role in shaping the party’s ideology and policies.

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy is a rare condition characterized by the deterioration of certain nerve cells in the brain, leading to difficulties with balance, movement, and coordination. The presence of Parkinsonism, Diabetes Mellitus-II, and Hypertension further compounded Sita’s health challenges.

Throughout her illness, Sita received medical care and attention from the doctors and staff at Norvic International Hospital. However, despite their best efforts, her condition worsened over time, ultimately leading to her untimely demise.

Prime Minister Prachanda, who had been by his wife’s side throughout her illness, has expressed deep sorrow over her passing. The Prime Minister’s Office released a statement conveying his grief and extending condolences to Sita’s family and loved ones.

The news of Sita Dahal’s death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders, friends, and well-wishers across the country. Many have acknowledged her contributions to the political landscape and remembered her as a compassionate and strong-willed individual.

Sita Dahal’s funeral arrangements are currently underway, and dignitaries from various political parties are expected to pay their respects. Her passing marks a significant loss for Nepal, and her memory will be cherished by those who knew her for her unwavering dedication and commitment to public service.

As the nation mourns the loss of Sita Dahal, it is a time to reflect on her contributions and the impact she made throughout her life. Her legacy will endure, and her work will continue to inspire future generations in Nepal.
