On Saturday, Delhi police arrested three men for allegedly breaking into a wine shop in the Kanti Nagar area of east Delhi and stealing between Rs 6 to 7 lakh. The suspects, identified as Mohammad Gaji Sheikh (23) and Shaikh (33), both residents of West Bengal, and Mohammad Bilal (30), a resident of Bangladesh, reportedly gained entry to the shop by cutting through its roof.

The police report that the accused are ragpickers and drug addicts. They have been charged with theft and are currently in police custody. Further investigations are ongoing.

According to the police, the accused were in dire need of money due to their addiction to drugs and decided to break into the wine shop. They cut through the roof to gain entry, taking advantage of the shop’s location in a relatively isolated area. After stealing the cash, they fled the scene.

The wine shop owner reported the incident to the police, who began an investigation. Based on CCTV footage and other evidence, the police identified the three suspects and arrested them.

This incident highlights the impact of drug addiction on vulnerable populations, such as ragpickers. Drug addiction can drive individuals to commit crimes to support their habit, leading to negative consequences for themselves and others.

The police have advised shop owners to take measures to secure their premises to prevent such incidents from occurring. This includes installing CCTV cameras, hiring security guards, and reinforcing doors and windows.

The arrest of these three men serves as a reminder of the impact of drug addiction on individuals and society. The police are working to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, and it is important for all stakeholders to work together to address this issue.
