The victim, identified as Anil Rajgarh, worked at Green View Tea Estate in Mariani in Jorhat district. He reportedly went missing on September 7, and his body was later recovered from a sandbank along the Bhogdoi river. Police said he had been beheaded before the body was buried.

Four arrested in Jorhat murder probe

According to reports, police arrested Kapil Karmakar, described as the prime accused, during the investigation. Three others were also arrested in connection with the case.

The arrested persons include Kapil’s wife Anima Karmakar, his brother Sanjit Karmakar and Mahesh Rajgarh. Police are questioning all four to establish their individual roles and reconstruct the sequence of events.

Investigators are examining whether a suspected relationship between Anil and Anima was the motive behind the killing. However, the alleged relationship and the exact motive remain part of the police investigation and have not been established by a court.

Assam beheading case linked to suspected affair

Preliminary police findings indicate that Anima allegedly contacted Anil and arranged a meeting. Investigators suspect that Kapil and the other accused were waiting for him when he arrived.

Anil was allegedly attacked during the meeting. Police suspect that he was then beheaded and that his body was taken to the Bhogdoi riverbank, where it was buried under sand.

Meanwhile, residents and workers at Green View Tea Estate had been searching for Anil after he disappeared. His body was reportedly recovered six days after he was last seen.

The discovery prompted a murder investigation and intensified efforts to identify those responsible. Police subsequently arrested the four suspects as investigators followed the suspected trail leading from the tea estate to the riverbank.

Police examine evidence and individual roles

The Assam beheading case remains under investigation as police seek to determine how the alleged murder was planned and carried out.

Investigators are also examining the roles of each arrested person. This is important because an arrest indicates that police suspect involvement, but it does not establish guilt. The accused will have the opportunity to contest the allegations through the legal process.

Moreover, investigators are expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the meeting between Anil and Anima. The police theory about the suspected affair is being treated as a possible motive rather than a proven fact.

The case has drawn attention in the Mariani area because of the nature of the alleged killing and the recovery of the body from the Bhogdoi riverbank.

Assam beheading case raises questions as probe continues

The Assam beheading case has highlighted the serious consequences of violent disputes linked to suspected personal relationships. However, investigators must still establish the full circumstances before the allegations can be treated as proven facts.

With four people arrested, police are now working to determine the sequence of events, the precise roles of the accused and the motive behind Anil Rajgarh’s alleged murder. Further findings from the investigation are expected to clarify what happened after his disappearance on September 7.

For now, the case remains at the investigation stage. The arrests and police allegations will ultimately have to be tested through the judicial process.
