Training Focuses on Emerging Drone Threats

In a major step to strengthen security preparedness, Assam Rifles organised a drone awareness-cum-training session for personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force. The initiative aimed to address the rising use of drones in both civilian and security environments.

As drone technology evolves rapidly, security forces face new challenges. Therefore, the training focused on equipping personnel with the skills needed to identify and respond to potential threats effectively.

Classroom Session Builds Technical Understanding

The programme began with a detailed classroom session on drone familiarisation. During this phase, experts from Assam Rifles explained different types of drones and their capabilities. They also highlighted the possible security risks linked to unmanned aerial systems.

In addition, trainers emphasised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for handling drone-related situations. These included steps for identification, threat assessment, and response strategies. As a result, participants gained a clear understanding of how to act during real-world scenarios.

Practical Training Enhances Field Skills

Following the theoretical session, the programme moved to hands-on training. Here, CISF personnel observed live drone demonstrations and learned basic handling techniques. They also practised manoeuvring drones under expert supervision.

Moreover, the practical segment helped participants identify different drone models and understand their functions in real time. This exposure improved their confidence and operational readiness in dealing with drone-related challenges.

Boost to Inter-Agency Coordination

Officials noted that such joint initiatives strengthen coordination between security agencies. In addition, the training improved technical awareness among CISF personnel while enhancing their ability to respond quickly to threats.

Participants described the session as timely and highly relevant, especially given the growing use of drones in sensitive areas. Consequently, the programme contributed to building a more prepared and coordinated security framework.

Continued Focus on Capacity Building

Going forward, Assam Rifles plans to continue similar training programmes. These efforts aim to maintain high preparedness levels and improve synergy among security forces across the region.
