A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a cyclone storm called Mocha, according to the India Meteorological Department. The weather office has predicted that it will become a severe cyclone by midnight today. The IMD stated that the cyclone is currently centered about 510 km west-southwest of Port Blair and 1210 km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.

The IMD has warned that Mocha is likely to weaken slightly from the morning of May 14, but it is still expected to cross southeast Bangladesh and north Myanmar coasts between Cox’s Bazar and Kyaukpyu with a maximum sustained wind speed of 120-130 mph, gusting to 145 mph.

As a result, people living in the areas that could be affected by the cyclone have been advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions. The authorities in Bangladesh and Myanmar have also been alerted to the situation and are making preparations to deal with any potential impact.

Cyclones are common in the Bay of Bengal, and they can cause significant damage to infrastructure and homes, as well as lead to loss of life. Therefore, people in the affected areas must follow the instructions of the authorities and take steps to ensure their safety.
