Hatchery Initiative Strengthens Rural Livelihoods

Officials inaugurated the duck hatchery unit at Paschim Pilak under Jolaibari RD Block. As a result, the project directly supports rural families and promotes self-reliance.

Moreover, the initiative focuses on empowering women through income-generating activities. Therefore, it creates new opportunities for financial independence in villages.

Funding Support Drives the Project

The project received ₹4.5 lakh in total funding. Indra Sena Reddy Nallu contributed ₹1 lakh from his discretionary fund.

In addition, Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission provided ₹3.5 lakh under the Rural Development Department. Consequently, the combined funding enabled smooth implementation.

Women SHGs Take the Lead

Women self-help groups under the Muhuripur Cluster Level Federation actively implemented the project. At the same time, TRLM guided the process to ensure proper execution.

Because of this participation, local women now manage and benefit directly from the hatchery. Furthermore, the model encourages community ownership and long-term sustainability.

Boost to Duck Farming and Income

The hatchery now supplies ducklings to local producer groups and SHG members. As a result, women can start duck farming within their own villages.

Additionally, this access reduces dependency on external markets. Therefore, families can generate stable income and improve their livelihoods.

Administrative Support Ensures Success

Jolaibari BDO Nababrata Datta supervised the project and ensured timely execution. Meanwhile, local leaders attended the inauguration and supported the initiative.

For instance, Panchayat Samiti Chairman Tapas Datta and other पंचायत representatives participated in the programme. Their involvement further strengthened local coordination.

Focus on Sustainable Development

Officials believe the hatchery will expand duck farming in the region. At the same time, it will create employment and strengthen the rural economy.

Hence, the project aligns with broader development goals and promotes self-reliance among rural communities.

Why Tripura Matters

Tripura plays a crucial role in advancing rural development in Northeast India. Therefore, initiatives like this hatchery help improve livelihoods and empower women across the region.
