Punjab Police have detained a male passenger, identified as Rajinder Singh, following allegations of molesting an air hostess on a Dubai-Amritsar flight. The incident occurred on Saturday when Singh, a resident of Kolti village in Jalandhar district, engaged in a heated argument with the air hostess, leading to the alleged molestation. Authorities were alerted by the crew, and Singh was apprehended upon arrival at Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Punjab.

Singh has been charged under Sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertain to assault or criminal force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty and acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman, respectively. In a separate incident, two passengers travelling from Dubai to Mumbai were arrested for causing a disturbance on the flight while under the influence of alcohol. They were accused of hurling abuses at crew members and fellow passengers.

The accused individuals, Dattatreya Bapardekar and John George D’Souza, have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Rules. They were granted bail after being formally arrested. The incident occurred following their return from the Gulf, where they had been working for a year.

The accused passengers endangered the safety of others on the flight, and their unruly behavior prompted objections from fellow passengers and the crew. One of the individuals was seen drinking and walking down the aisle, resulting in their liquor bottles being confiscated by the crew.

The accused have been charged with endangering the life and safety of others, as well as violations of specific sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Aircraft Rules.
