Manipur: Three Arrested in Separate Operations Involving Insurgency, Drugs and Arms

Imphal, Manipur: Security forces and Manipur Police arrested three people during separate operations across the state on October 5, 2026. The operations targeted alleged insurgent activities, suspected drug trafficking and illegal arms dealings. In Thoubal, authorities arrested an alleged active cadre of the KCP (PWG) over suspected recruitment activities.

Meanwhile, personnel in Tengnoupal arrested a suspected drug carrier and recovered around 5.4 kg of suspected WY tablets. In Imphal East, another team arrested a man over alleged involvement in the illegal procurement and sale of arms, ammunition and explosives.

Alleged KCP (PWG) Cadre Arrested in Thoubal

A joint team of CDO-Thoubal and security forces arrested 28-year-old Thongram Keli Meitei alias Khuman from Wangjing Bazar in Thoubal district.

Police identified Meitei as the son of late Th Kumar Meitei of Tentha Khongbal. He currently lives in Tentha Marongband.

According to security forces, Meitei works as an active cadre of the KCP (PWG). Authorities also allege that he helped recruit new cadres for the outfit.

The joint team conducted the operation on October 5 and took Meitei into custody. Further investigation will determine the full extent of his alleged activities.

Suspected WY Tablets Seized in Tengnoupal

Meanwhile, security personnel intercepted an Activa rider at the Tengnoupal Police Station Naka Checkpost.

The team acted on reliable intelligence inputs and searched the vehicle during the naka checking. Subsequently, personnel recovered six packets of suspected WY tablets weighing around 5.4 kg.

Authorities identified the rider as 31-year-old Helminlal Haokip, son of Jaimkhollet Haokip and a resident of Moreh in Tengnoupal district.

Police arrested Haokip and seized the suspected contraband along with the Activa. Investigators will now examine the source and intended destination of the suspected drugs.

Arrest in Imphal East Arms Case

Meanwhile, another joint team involving CDO-Imphal East, Andro Police Station and security forces arrested 23-year-old Md Samsudduha alias Eton from Thambalnu Market in Imphal East.

The arrest relates to a case registered at Andro Police Station. Investigators accuse Samsudduha of involvement in the illegal procurement and sale of arms, ammunition and explosives.

According to investigators, Samsudduha allegedly supplied a hand grenade through two women in July 2026. The grenade allegedly went to another associate for sale at a price of ₹10,000.

Following the arrest, authorities took Samsudduha to Andro Police Station for further legal proceedings.

Security Forces Continue Operations

The three arrests highlight continued security operations against suspected insurgent networks, illegal drug trafficking and unauthorised arms activities in Manipur.

Moreover, police and security forces continue to conduct intelligence-based operations and naka checking at strategic locations.

Authorities are now investigating all three cases. Therefore, further action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigations.
