Mizoram: ₹84.74 Crore Tourism and Sports Projects Launched in Champhai

The Government of Mizoram has launched three major development projects worth ₹84.742 crore in Champhai to boost tourism and sports infrastructure. Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar presided over the foundation stone ceremony at Thangtea Hall. The projects include an artificial football turf, a heritage and cultural centre, and an eco-resort. The initiative aims to strengthen tourism, promote local culture, and enhance youth engagement in sports. Officials also announced a new District Tourism Office and renovation plans for the Champhai Tourist Lodge.

Major Infrastructure Boost in Champhai

Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony at Thangtea Hall in Champhai Kahrawt. The projects fall under the Sports & Youth Services and Tourism Departments.

These initiatives aim to improve infrastructure and create new opportunities for tourism and youth development in the region.


Focus on Tourism and Culture

The Heritage and Cultural Centre will promote local traditions and provide a platform to showcase Mizoram’s rich cultural heritage. Authorities expect it to attract tourists and support local artisans.

The eco-resort at Keilungliah will offer nature-based tourism experiences. It is designed to attract eco-tourists and boost sustainable tourism in the region.


Sports Development Initiative

The artificial football turf in New Champhai is expected to improve sports facilities for local youth. It will encourage participation in football and help develop sporting talent in Mizoram.

Officials said such infrastructure will strengthen grassroots sports and create better training opportunities.
