Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his perspective on the Russia-Ukraine conflict during the G7 Summit in Japan, highlighting its significance beyond politics and economy. According to reports, PM Modi emphasized the importance of humanity and human values in addressing the conflict, stressing that all nations should uphold the UN Charter, international law, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.

During his speech at the summit, PM Modi underscored the belief that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable means to resolve the crisis. He emphasized that global peace, stability, and prosperity are shared objectives. India has consistently advocated for peaceful resolution of tensions and disputes through dialogue.

PM Modi also addressed the impact of the war on developing countries, particularly in terms of food, fuel, and fertilizer crises, highlighting the challenges faced by these nations in the current global scenario.

In addition to his participation in the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. He also paid tribute at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, commemorating the victims of the nuclear attack during World War II, and signed the visitor’s book.

During a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, their first in-person encounter since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, PM Modi assured that India will make every effort to find a resolution to the conflict. He acknowledged the significant global impact of the war and expressed his concern regarding its various consequences.

Following the G7 Summit, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Papua New Guinea and Australia.
