Uttar Pradesh: Ballia Court Sentences Bangladeshi National for Forged Passport and Illegal Land Registration

A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district sentenced a Bangladeshi national to three years in prison for using forged Indian identity documents, illegally obtaining a passport, and registering land through fraudulent means. The convicted man, identified as Abdul Amin, also received a fine of Rs 10,000 from the court on May 12, 2026. Police said Amin allegedly procured fake Indian documents with the help of local individuals and later used them for illegal activities, including foreign travel and land registration in West Bengal. Authorities had registered the case in 2023 following a complaint filed by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Varanasi.

Court Convicts Bangladeshi National

Special Judge Ramkripal convicted Abdul Amin on Monday and sentenced him to three years in jail. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused.

Superintendent of Police Omvir Singh confirmed the conviction and said investigators had gathered evidence regarding the use of forged Indian documents.

ATS Registered Case in 2023

According to prosecution sources, ATS Varanasi Inspector Bharat Bhushan Tiwari filed a written complaint at Kotwali police station on March 14, 2023.

Police later booked Amin under several sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Foreigners Act. Investigators claimed Amin lived in a Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Fake Documents Used for Land Registration

Investigators alleged that Amin obtained Indian identity documents fraudulently with help from certain individuals in Ballia district.

Later, he reportedly used those fake documents to register a plot of land illegally in the Purushottampur area under the Pandua region of Hooghly district in West Bengal.

Police also stated that Amin secured an Indian passport through fraudulent means.

Accused Travelled Abroad Using Forged Passport

According to investigators, Amin travelled twice each to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia using the forged passport and fake identity documents.

After completing the investigation, police filed a chargesheet against the accused, which eventually led to his conviction in court.
