The West Coast Eagles have selected tall forward Archer Reid with their second pick in the 2023 national draft.

Reid is the younger brother of Essendon defender Zach Reid and is a mobile tall forward who is renowned for his outstanding overhead marking, natural goal sense and clean hands below his knees for a 203cm big man.

He averaged 13.5 disposals, 5 marks and kicked 16 goals in his 11 Coates Talent League matches for Gippsland and played in all four under-18s championships games for Vic Country, kicking two goals against Vic Metro.

The 203cm Reid has the ability to play ruck to provide valuable tall versatility at the Eagles.

Reid is a highly touted prospect and is expected to make an immediate impact in the Eagles’ forward line. He joins a talented group of young forwards at the Eagles, including Jack Darling, Liam Ryan and Oscar Allen.

The Eagles are hoping that Reid can develop into a key player for them in the years to come.
