Young Indian cricketer Shubman Gill is set to make his debut as a voice artist in the upcoming animated movie “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”. The 23-year-old will lend his voice to the Hindi and Punjabi versions of the film, which will be released by Sony Pictures Entertainment India across the country.

Gill, who is currently playing for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to voice the Indian Spider-Man. “Spider-Man is one of the most relatable superheroes, and I am thrilled to be a part of this project,” he said.

The film marks the big-screen debut of Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian Spider-Man. Created by Indian comic book artist Jeevan J. Kang, Pavitr Prabhakar first appeared in a comic book series in 2004.

In the upcoming film, the Indian Spider-Man will join forces with Miles Morales, the Spider-Man from another universe, as they battle a powerful new villain. The movie is a sequel to the 2018 film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, which was a critical and commercial success, winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The announcement of Shubman Gill’s involvement in the film has generated a lot of buzz among fans. Many have taken to social media to express their excitement and anticipation for the movie.

Gill is considered one of the brightest young talents in Indian cricket. He made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2020 and has since become a regular member of the squad. He has also had a successful career in domestic cricket, representing the Punjab team in the Ranji Trophy and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in Indian superheroes and comic book characters. With the success of films like “Baahubali” and “Krrish”, there is a growing appetite for Indian stories and characters on the big screen.

The inclusion of the Indian Spider-Man in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is a significant milestone for Indian comic book fans. It is hoped that the success of the film will pave the way for more Indian superheroes to be featured in mainstream movies and TV shows.

“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” is set to be released in theaters in 2022. With Shubman Gill’s involvement in the film, it is sure to be a must-see for cricket and comic book fans alike.
