Garima Saikia Garg has renewed her demand for justice for her late husband, Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, while extending support to public protests seeking accountability in the case. Her appeal comes amid growing public concern following bail granted to two accused in the case surrounding the singer’s death.

At a peaceful gathering at Zubeen Khetra in Sonapur on October 12, Garima questioned the developments in the investigation and expressed concern about whether the legal proceedings would deliver justice. She also urged people to continue raising their voices peacefully as the case moves forward.

Garima Saikia Garg Supports Justice Protests

Garima Saikia Garg joined supporters in demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding Zubeen Garg’s death. The demonstration, organised by the Zubeen Garg Fan Club, brought together fans and members of the public who continue to seek accountability.

The gathering reflected the widespread emotional impact of the singer’s death across Assam. Zubeen Garg was a prominent musical figure whose work connected with audiences across generations.

Garima expressed concern over the recent legal developments, particularly the release of an accused on bail. She questioned whether weaknesses in the investigation or prosecution could affect the pursuit of justice.

However, bail does not establish innocence or guilt. Courts consider the available material and applicable legal principles when deciding bail applications, while the trial determines criminal liability.

Her remarks highlighted the family’s continuing demand for accountability and a fair legal process. Meanwhile, supporters have maintained that public pressure should remain focused on securing answers rather than creating unrest.

Bail Decisions Raise Questions for Garima Saikia Garg

The protest followed the Gauhati High Court’s decision to grant conditional bail to Amritprabha Mahanta on October 9. The development triggered fresh concerns among supporters who fear that the case could lose momentum.

Garima questioned the implications of the bail decision and raised concerns about the strength of the investigation. She also expressed apprehension about possible evidence tampering and the safety of her family, according to reports from the protest.

Additionally, the case has seen another significant development. Zubeen Garg’s cousin, Sandipan Garg, a suspended Assam Police deputy superintendent of police, has also secured bail.

Both decisions have intensified public discussion about the investigation and the prosecution’s case. Nevertheless, bail orders do not end criminal proceedings, and the accused remain subject to the conditions imposed by the courts.

The legal process must now establish the facts through evidence and judicial examination. Therefore, the allegations against each accused must remain distinct from findings established by a court.

Garima Saikia Garg Seeks Accountability

Garima has consistently called for justice while expressing faith in the legal process. Her latest appeal reflects the family’s determination to understand the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19, 2025, at the age of 52. He had travelled there to attend the North East India Festival. His death prompted widespread grief and demands for a thorough investigation in Assam.

A Special Investigation Team investigated the case and named seven accused in its chargesheet. The proceedings have since drawn close public attention, with supporters closely following court hearings and decisions.

However, the circumstances of the singer’s death have also involved findings from authorities outside India. A Singapore coroner ruled in March 2026 that Garg died from accidental drowning. That finding forms part of the broader context, while the criminal proceedings in Assam continue separately.

The distinction matters because public demands for accountability must proceed alongside the evidence and legal findings relevant to the case.

Family Warns Against Politicising the Campaign

Garima Saikia Garg has also stressed that the demand for justice should not become associated with any political party or ideology. In a social media statement ahead of a public meeting at Zubeen Khetra, she reiterated that securing justice for her husband remains the family’s only demand.

She said the family would be unable to attend the meeting because of planned rituals in Gaya. However, she expressed support for people continuing the campaign.

Moreover, her appeal underlines the importance of keeping the movement peaceful and focused on accountability. Supporters have called for collective participation, while public discussions have explored the next steps in the campaign following the bail decisions.

Garima’s position reflects a clear distinction between seeking justice and using the case for political purposes. She has urged people to support the family’s demand without imposing their political views on the movement.

Justice for Zubeen Garg Remains the Central Demand

The continuing protests show that public concern over Zubeen Garg’s death remains strong across Assam. For many fans, the singer’s cultural influence has made the case a deeply personal issue as well as a legal matter.

Nevertheless, the outcome must ultimately depend on the evidence presented before the court. The investigation, prosecution and trial must establish the relevant facts and determine individual responsibility according to law.

Garima Saikia Garg’s renewed appeal has placed the demand for accountability back at the centre of public discussion. As the legal proceedings continue, the family and supporters are seeking clear answers about the circumstances of the singer’s death.

The coming stages of the case will be important in determining how the allegations are tested in court. Until then, the family’s demand remains unchanged: justice for Zubeen Garg, a fair legal process and accountability based on evidence.
