India reported its highest number of new Covid cases in around eight months, with 12,591 cases recorded in a single day, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. The number of active cases increased to 65,286, while the death toll rose to 5,31,230 with 40 fatalities reported, including 11 that were reconciled by Kerala.

The total number of Covid cases in India has now reached 4.48 crore. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.46 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 5.32 percent. The active cases now make up only 0.15 percent of the total infections, while the country’s Covid-19 recovery rate was recorded at an impressive 98.67 percent.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease has surged to 4,42,61, 476, and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 percent. The health ministry’s website reported that a total of 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

As the number of cases continues to rise, the Indian government has been urging people to follow Covid safety protocols and get vaccinated. The situation in India had improved significantly over the past few months, with the number of cases and deaths declining significantly. However, the recent surge in cases is a cause for concern, and people must take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
